EyePilot Alpha is released!

NativeSensors

Hey all,

EyePilot is released!

Together with the release of EyePilot alpha to all subscribers, we are providing this tutorial to explain the particular components of the interface, which may not be fully self-explanatory.

Here goes our WeTransfer link:

EyePilot [link expires on 13.06.2024]

If you will find link expired, you can still access EyePilot via paid subscriptions or via: Support EyePilot

Get it while it's hot! The link is only active until June 13. We will likely add it to our main website later, but the website requires revamping first.

Calibration

During calibration, you will see two circles: red and orange. Each has a distinct meaning. The red circles are the targets you need to gaze upon, while the orange circles are the areas from which the cursor starts calibrating. When the cursor enters the orange area, its position is remembered by the algorithm and assigned to the center of the red circle, along with other facial landmarks. This process may cause the cursor to slowly move towards the red center.

The first time you launch the app, it will start calibration after pressing "Start." After that, it will save the model to the temporary files, so the next time you launch the app, calibration will not start by default. You can still start calibration manually, reset the calibration data in settings, or remove the temporary files.

Context Tracking

Even a calibrated cursor may experience some jitter, so we have built in context tracking. This means that every time you focus on a certain element, the app will take a screenshot around the cursor and try to detect what components are present, such as icons, text, fields, etc. This makes it easier for you to aim at the things you want to press.

Pressing Buttons/Clicking

For now app is only allowing for single button press. This can be achieved by focusing on object you want to press, and when you see blue cursor hovering on to of it just blink your eyes.

Blinking is moving your mouse and pressing your buttons, but it is only activated when focusing.

Indicators

After focusing on a certain area, you will see an additional blue cursor. press_target.png

This indicates where the app thinks you want to press. If you blink at that moment, the cursor will move and press that object.

Your standard eye-controlled cursor is grey (however you can customize it too): normal_curosr.png

Settings

You can change how long you have to stare at a certain object before context tracking activates by adjusting the fixation threshold in the settings. By default, it is set to 2, but it ranges from 1 to 10.

Additionally, you may want to adjust how much eye movement affects your cursor and how much you want to use the machine learning algorithm. You can control this with the Classic Impact slider. More Classic Impact means a greater effect from the V1 algorithm, which uses a model approach to track your eye movements. Less Classic Impact means more influence from the V2 algorithm.

Feedback

We are super open to any feedback! Please let us know how to make this app better!

Best regards,

NativeSensors team.
