Polar Payment Processing Partners

Last Updated — March 25, 2026

Polar works with Stripe as a trusted financial partner to process payments and settle funds between customers and merchants using the Polar platform.

This page provides transparency into the payment processor used to facilitate transactions on Polar.

What is a Payment Processor? A payment processor is the financial service provider that enables electronic payments by securely transmitting transaction data between customers, card networks, issuing banks, and acquiring banks. Payment processors handle tasks such as payment authorization, transaction routing, settlement, and fraud protection.

When a customer makes a purchase through Polar:

  1. Payment information is securely captured by the Payment Processor at checkout.
  2. The Payment Processor transmits the transaction to the relevant card network and issuing bank.
  3. The issuing bank authorises or declines the transaction.
  4. Once approved, funds are settled to the Polar account on Stripe. Payouts and transfers to the merchant account are handled separately by Stripe Connect.

Payment processors operate within strict regulatory and security frameworks, including compliance with card network rules and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Polar’s Payment Processor Polar uses Stripe for providing payment processing infrastructure for transactions conducted through Polar.

Stripe facilitates:

  • Card payment processing
  • Payment authorization and settlement
