E.g. 2GIS (2ГИС) uses this approach and I find it very helpful.
Tapping on such grouping will show a map with only store chain selected (otherwise there are plenty of other unwanted results).
This way its very convenient to see on the map where is the nearest store or a store along your way.
Another example with multiple chains/sub-chains matching:

- a BK chain
- all burger places
- all places with burgers in menu
