alr search should include external by default. For example, "alr search re2c" shows "no hits", when there is a perfectly good re2c crate. The fact that it's external is an implementation detail that the user should not care about.
What is the rational for excluding external by default?
In addition, the help string for --external-detect says "implies --external", but "alr search --external-detect re2c" shows "no hits". What does --external-detect actually do?
