Covernote is a complete Framer website for a commercial insurance broker, built around the number a comparison quote never shows: what the policy would actually pay.
The condition of average
Set a sum insured below the real reinstatement cost and the insurer reduces every claim by that same proportion, small claims included. It is in almost every commercial property policy and almost nobody reads it.
A business insured for 500,000 against a 750,000 rebuild is 33% underinsured. A 100,000 fire claim pays 66,667. A 10,000 escape of water claim, which feels comfortably inside the cover, pays 6,667. The proportion withheld never changes with the size of the loss, and that is the row that changes the conversation.
